Festival-Ready: How to Stay Healthy and Energised on the fields

Oh joy festival season is here and Glastonbury is only 3 weeks away which is crazy. It’s almost peak summer and the solstice. If you’re gearing up for Glasto or any other wonderful weekends of music, dancing and hopefully sunshine, your body deserves just as much prep as your outfits.

Between late nights, 30k steps a day, heat, and stomping, it’s easy to come back to real life feeling broken. But with a little planning, you could feel pretty good knowing you’ve given your body some goodness.

Here’s my tips on festival prep…

🎧  Obvious but HYDRATION is top of the list. You’re moving, sweating, and probably enjoying a few drinks – it all adds up. Dehydration is one of the quickest ways to kill your vibe.

  • Take a refillable water bottle and keep it topped up all day.

  • Add electrolytes to your water to replenish key minerals like sodium, potassium, and magnesium. This helps prevent cramps and fatigue while keeping your energy levels steady. I like Ancient and Brave’s True Hydration as they come in sachets you can mix into your morning water.

🧘‍♀️ MAGNESIUM: The tonic for your nervous system. Festivals are a sensory overload. If you're feeling wired, overstimulated, or having trouble sleeping, magnesium can help.

Why it’s helpful:

  • Calms the nervous system

  • Relieves muscle tension

  • Supports deeper, more restful sleep - even after a full day of dancing

Take it in the evening or before bed for best results.

☕ COLLAGEN = skin + joint support

Outdoor festivals mean sun exposure and long hours on your feet. Enter: collagen. Add a scoop of collagen powder to your morning tea or coffee to support:

  • Skin hydration and elasticity (hello, festival glow)

  • Joint health and mobility

  • Gut integrity, especially helpful with irregular meals

Again I like Ancient and Brave’s True Collagen as they come in handy sachets you can stir into your drink every morning.

🔋 Boost Your Energy with B VITAMINS

When you're moving nonstop, your body needs extra support to keep up and stop you flagging.

Why B Vitamins?

  • Help convert food into usable energy

  • Support your nervous system and mood

  • May help with alcohol metabolism (liver!) and post-festival recovery

Look for a quality methylated B-complex supplement and take it daily throughout the festival weekend.

🌿 LIVER SUPPORT

Look after your poor liver! Let’s be honest - festival weekends often include alcohol and indulgent food. Your liver works overtime, and a little support goes a long way. I always take a liver supplement or just milk thistle on its own will really help:

  • Aids in detoxification

  • Helps your liver process toxins more efficiently

  • Can reduce bloating and support clearer skin

Take it in the evening before you go to sleep, especially if you’ve been drinking. Or when you wake up if it’s too late and you forget. I also pack daily little ginger and turmeric shots for the morning after.

🍎 BLOOD SUGAR BALANCE

Food trucks have come a long way but still, not always easy on your stomach and one big meal a day can wipe you out afterwards. Ensure protein with the stodge! It will keep you fuller longer and avoid needing to lie down under a tree afterwards. Go for chicken, beef, tofu, beans, lentils or fish if it looks good quality. And pack your own stash of healthy snacks to keep your energy steady and your gut happy.

Festival-Friendly Snacks:

  • Protein bars, nut butters, nuts and seeds

  • Fresh fruit like apples, oranges, or grapes last well in the tent

  • Roasted chickpeas or seaweed snacks

My faves are apple and nut butter or 70% dark chocolate with Brazil nuts: sweet but healthy fat and protein so blood sugar friendly 😁

Listen to Your Body…

Yes, festivals are about going all in - but not at the cost of your health. Take breaks. Find shade. Don’t ignore hunger, thirst, or fatigue. And take ear plugs lol. You’ll enjoy everything more when you feel good.
